ALL-TIME HIGH : S&P 4,000 +
The S&P 500 closed out the month of March with a 4.2% return, its best month since last November. The S&P also hit an all-time high on April 1st as it crossed the 4,000 mark, finishing at 4,019 on the day — representing over 60% growth since the COVID-19 pandemic began in the U.S. a little over a year ago. As the vaccine rollout accelerates and optimism for a return to normalcy increases, April looks to be an encouraging month for investors. On the other hand, bonds had the worst quarter on record, with a return of -15.66%, as interest rates started to increase, and the 10-Year Treasury yield reached a 14-month high of 1.78%. As the economy continues to rebound and grow coming out of the pandemic, the second quarter of 2021 may also exhibit a similarly poor performance.
In the spirit of Final Four weekend and our love of the game, we bring you some interesting and relevant snapshots as we look at the market.
